A Worker’s Blog

What should this site be? How should I express myself?

What can we do? How can we build the conditions for a situation where the potential we have created can be seized?

How do we act in a way that expands the real potential available to be acted on?

If life is potential, and consciousness is the ability to reflect on it, is freedom the ability to actualize it?

A never ending series of images are presented to us. Why these images? Why not others? Who is showing us? For what reason?

What kind of world is presented? Is it the same one shown to my neighbor?

We are encouraged to share our opinion. How was your service? How likely are you to recommend this product? How does it make you feel?
What is the meaning of an opinion spoken in an empty room? Yelled on a crowded street? Written on a bathroom wall? Scratched on an intake bench?

Does an opinion imply an associated action?

What is possible? Infinite limited possibilities narrow into a singular path, in a field of determination limited by history and opened through action. How can we seize the moment?

How can we know the real choices presented? Can we determine what is significant? To what end? Which trail leads to a clearing and which fades into the scenery?

Are we lost in the woods or forging a path? Choices are made regardless.

A group of activists stand in a circle chanting demands to themselves. The slogans have been thoroughly debated at the top, refined, and reflect what they consider the best rhetorical bridge between their own understanding and the masses’. The best bridge between what is and what is necessary. They carry signs with similar messages, the wording on each carefully chosen to demonstrate the unique correctness of their perspective. They chant with the conviction of moral truth. They can be assured they are on the right side of things.

A group of police stand nearby. Ignored by the activists, some watch out of boredom, some out of scorn. Got to take the overtime you can get.

People pass by. At a distance. The chanters don’t notice. Why don’t they rally around the circle? It’s a shame they don’t recognize their own interests. Maybe next time.
